Frequently Asked Questions

What do you recommend for . . .?
It's a question we can't answer for you. What we can do is direct you to some great information in our books and magazines and put you in contact with some great companies who sell parts and/or components.

How do I . . .?
We're always happy to put you in touch with a good book on the subject you wonder about. For example, if you're new to home audio construction, we've published a great beginner's book called The Joy of Audio Electronics, which contains a full tutorial on soldering, a list to set up your own workbench and complete instructions for your first audio project (it even includes the PC boards to build it!)

Where can I find...?
We can recommend many excellent companies who have become favorites with our subscribers and customers. Visit the Advertiser Links section of this site to find links to many of these companies.

Where do I start?
As indicated above, The Joy of Audio Electronics, provides a great introduction to audio construction. But what if you're already an accomplished electronics builder who wants to design speakers, or an audio enthusiast who wants information to arm him or herself for the trip to the audio store? Check out our books from our Old Colony catalog or sign up for a FREE trial issue of audioXpress, the new magazine looking comprehensively at audio systems from the inside out.

I have a technical question...
We do not have technicians on staff at our publishing office so we are unable to answer technical questions over the phone. For questions relating to an article, please send an e-mail to our editorial department at editorial@audioXpress.com and we'll forward it to the author. You can also send a letter to PO Box 876, Peterborough, NH 03458-0876 USA or fax your question to 603-924-9467. For more information regarding our products, contact customer service for printed materials or the e-mail or website address of the manufacturer.

I'm still confused!
Don't despair, an e-mail to our customer service department at custserv@audioXpress.com for help in selecting books, back issues or other products or an e-mail to our editorial department to ask a specific question from an author is the next step. Of course, you can also call customer service toll-free from the US and Canada at 1-888-924-9465. We're in the office 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM EST Monday-Friday (until 3:30 PM on summer Fridays-We work for a great boss who lets us start our summer weekends early!) International customers can fax to 603-924-9467 or call 603-924-9464.
